Leadership Development

I specialize in implementing leadership development at all levels of the organization. In 2022 our team built the foundation for inclusive leadership through this debut program. The objective was to set up succession planning sandwiches for the organization and foundational skills for employees who were/are at a crossroad in their career. This program was developed from ideation to scale. Plus, I set the team up to pull ROI in 2023 with the metrics and measurements in place.

LEAP

  • Through this course you will use outcomes from the StrengthFinders assessment to understand how to put your best foot forward in almost any situation. You will develop a range of skills from developing more self-awareness and asking for feedback to identifying your blind spots. You will also learn how to give constructive feedback to help others unveil their blind spots. Additionally, you will learn how to build your networking skills to access leaders and mentors in your respective fields within Stanford.  At the culmination of this course you will be able to describe how concepts like influence, emotional intelligence, communication, self-management, collaboration, and accountability are integral to strong leadership.

    1. Recognize and utilize strengths to be successful inside and outside of the workplace.

    2. Identify and define blindspots.

    3. Recognize when they are receiving feedback and how to turn feedback into actionable insights around blind spots.

    4. Receive and give feedback with intentional outcomes for conversations.

    5. Explain when and why it is appropriate to give feedback.

    6. Practice listening actively.

    7. Develop personal brand using feedback, active listening and influence.

  • This course began as a single live session pilot in December of 2020.

Results and engagement were outstanding. Utilizing distributed authorship and experimental design (AREA), we were able to develop a four-course series. This series became known as LEAP in 2021.

After deploying the second pilot, consisting of all four courses with one self-paced option and one live session option, the results were still positive.

In the fall of 2021, we utilized an internal vendor to develop a professional course in the Coursera platform. This offering became available in February 2022.

Another cohort will debut in May 2022. After which, in August 2022, the data will be analyzed and we will proceed with planning for 2023.

  • This is a remote-first offering from the Learning & Organizational Development Team at Stanford Medicine. Participants are global and consist of multi-generational and intercultural backgrounds. There are two opportunities to participate based on audience needs: self-paced and enhanced. For more, visit the website.

    Increased Internal Mobility

Increased Retention from 58% to 100%

Internal recognition and participation across entities which, prior to this program, was perceived as impossible.

This course sets up the foundation for a feedback driven organization that cultivates leaders at an early point in their career. By doing so, Stanford will develop a more diverse executive team over time and create a more inclusive world starting with their immediate community.

After deploying the scaled version of the program, with an average of 70 participants per quarter, our revenue has superseded the initial funding. From May 2022 forward, all income received from the program will be profit. This profit will go back into the L&OD Team budget to fund pilot programs, expansions, and support distributed authorship through Departmental/Team Grants.

In Fiscal Year 2023, this course will expand and add the next level of leadership skill building including more complicated topics such as: negotiation, relationship management, etc.

  • "LEAP was an extraordinary experience for me. The program let me connect with and learn from so many different individuals across the School of Medicine & across the Stanford University campus. It gave me the confidence I needed to move up in my current career & the professional network necessary to ask advice from a diverse group of people. The effects of this program, long term, have given me the ability to be a more effective part of the Stanford Community." - Individual Contributor

“Thank you for your mentorship and wealth of information you shared in the LEAP Program. I started my first week in my new role as Administrative Operations Manager for FMS. The guidance, support, and teachings all played a huge role in me being accepted for this job. (LEAP) gave me the confidence I didn’t know I had. The LEAP course is invaluable, and I have been recommending it to all my colleagues. Thank you again for creating such a great program that all staff in SoM could benefit from.” - Manager
